I am a postdoctoral scholar at the Bren School of Env. Sci. & Mgmt., UC Santa Barbara. Current projects focus in the areas of water, climate, fire, and science broadly. I'm most interested in how public and politics influence policy design and implementation. Using theories from communication and social psychology I analyze the public's relationship to policy via information streams. I then use these findings to explain their relationship with policy outcomes via their interactions with agencies and managers. In 2015/2016 I was fortunate to advance my teaching and research as a visiting assistant professor at Reed College. I am extending these lessons to current mentorships with undergraduate students. Additional life goals include developing a platform for scientists interested in engaging with managers and policymakers, media production around important environmental issues, and surfing more regularly.
